The Athlete Partner Program (APP) supplies athletes with funds for the incremental costs of ski training and competition not covered by other sources. APP is funded primarily by Adaptive Spirit and administered by No Excuses Unlimited (NEU). Differing from previous years, APP funds are now granted based on an application process.

For APP funds to be administered in a manner consistent with the best interests of U.S. Paralympic Ski Team, athletes and IRS tax regulations, an APP Administrative Committee oversees the program. This is a volunteer committee and has no legal authority or liability to the APP or its participants. The APP and its Administrative Committee fall under the authority of the Adaptive Spirit Board of Directors. The Administrative Committee responsibilities are reviewing applications and dealing with exceptions to guidelines. This committee consists of the following positions:

• No Excuses Unlimited Board Member
• Adaptive Spirit Board Member
• APP Committee Co-Chairs (2)
• One person not associated with any of the above entities

Funding

Funding is primarily generated by the SkiTAM silent auction. Adaptive Spirit and No Excuses Unlimited may choose to supplement the program with other fund raising events. Anyone wishing to donate to APP may do so via check made payable to No Excuses Unlimited. Donors may also contribute on the No Excuses Unlimited web site through its secure PayPal site. These payments are charitable donations and donors will receive a contribution letter acknowledging the donation in accordance with IRS regulations. The money is deposited into a general fund bank account maintained by No Excuses Unlimited. At the conclusion of the APP budget year, No Excuses Unlimited will reserve funds not disbursed for the following year.

Tax Liability

APP funds paid are not subject to IRS reporting and are not subject to income tax withholding. Since No Excuses Unlimited withholds no taxes, athletes may have a tax liability at the time for this purpose. No Excuses Unlimited is not providing tax advice and athletes are advised to retain their own tax professional to advise them regarding the tax treatment of APP funding. No Excuses Unlimited will provide an accounting of donations received, payments made and balances quarterly or as requested.
